Creating a custom touch computer keypad or controller for your application has never been easier.
This above picture shows a custom Fast Touch USB keypad made for a multi-media kiosk. The graphic was digitally printed onto an .125” thick sheet of acrylic. The capacitive touch keys were mapped to the play/pause, volume up, volume down, mute and Ctrl+R keys found in a regular USB computer keyboard. In addition, there were two invisible keys mapped to F11 and F12.
The above picture shows a custom 1RU sized rack mountable touch interface. The custom graphics were reverse printed to 0.060" thick acrylic. The keyboard has 17 capacitive touch buttons mapped to the numeric keys found on a standard USB computer keyboard from 0 to 9, enter, up, down, left and right arrow keys and function keys F1 and F2. A custom powder coated sheet metal enclosure was also made for the keyboard. This keyboard directly connects to an amino set top box running the Linux operating system. Whenever, the user pressed a certain key on the interface, the fast touch system would simulate a key press and release of the key it was mapped to.
The fast touch system can also be configured so that whenever the user pressed a certain key on the interface, the system would simulate a button press and release of the keys found in a joystick. The above picture shows a custom gamepad developed by Rapid Keypads. Of the 10 keys found in the touch interface, 6 were mapped to the start, select, x, o, triangle and square keys found in modern day game pads. The remaining four were used to represent the change in the X, Y direction. The graphics were reverse printed onto a 0.060” thick acrylic. Custom enclosures were designed using SolidWorks and rapid prototyped using our own FDM machine. Rapid Keypads provided a complete USB Joystick solution to the client.
The biggest advantage of using RapidKeypads to make your custom USB keypads is that we can provide a complete unit with touch buttons, graphic overlay, electronics, USB cables, gaskets, custom enclosures etc.
This will greatly benefit product developers using single board computers such as PC104 and other embedded computer platforms to develop desktop/bench top, panel and rack mount applications, as well as kiosks in a range of industries such as medical, aerospace, industrial and consumer.
